Bizarre Therapy
Interview

When did you decide that a career in music was for you?

It started when I was around 12 or 13. After hearing Linkin Park's "Hybrid Theory" album.

Who are your musical inspirations and why?

When I was younger it were mainly nu metal and metalcore bands. Since then my circumstances changed and so did my music. I have no inspirations at this point.

Can you tell me 3 things about yourself that people might not already know?

1. In quite introverted and marketing is outside my comfort zone.

2. I make music exclusively off my phone.

3. Seeing random hairs whilst eating makes me gag.

What song of yours best describes you and why?

It'll have to be "Broken" which isn't out just yet. It's the first track that'll feature my vocals and the lyrics are quite personal, but not directed at anyone in general.

What has been the best gig you have done to date and why?

It was at a small venue in Serbia 10 years ago when I had my first gig with a band.

If you could perform a gig at any venue where would it be and why?

O2 arena in Birmingham. It seems big enough and it's relatively close to where I live.

What has been your best achievement to date and what would you like to achieve in the future?

Being placed on a compilation release with OIM Records. Hopeful to get signed by them in the future.

Tell me a story from backstage or after a gig?

We did a gig and they paid us half in cash and half in beer. When we finished the gig, all the beer vanished.

What do you like best about being a musician and why?

Just the creative freedom and the ability to express myself.

If you were not in the job you are now what would you be doing?

Since I work 2 jobs and make music, if I wasn't doing music, I'd probably get some downtime.

What has been the best gig you have been too as a fan and can you tell us about it?

It was "Warrior Dance" festival where Skrillex and Prodigy were headlining. I don't remember much, but I do remember not being able to make a single song out because I was in the front row.

What would your ideal festival line up be and why?

Oh God. It's difficult to say just a few names because I listen to different genres, but the top 3 I'd have are: Corpse, The Devin Townsend Project and Thy Art Is Murder.

What would you say is the best piece of advice you have ever been given?

Don't buy fake streams.

What things make you happy and what things annoy you?

Silence makes me very happy. People smacking their lips or slurping whilst eating really annoys me.

What things do you like to do when you are away from music?

Watch random YouTube videos.

Do you think social media and the internet are a good thing in the music industry?

Oh yeah. It's a lot easier to get your music out there that what it was a few decades ago.

How important do you think you look and image is when it comes to being in the music industry?

Personally I'm not bothered by looks, but I know it's also a part of the package.

Can you tell us about any tattoos you have and the significance of them to you?

I had a tattoo covered up with a solar eclipse symbolising a new beginning.

If you run the country for a day what would you change about it and why?

If it's only for a day it'd be absolute chaos, let the next guy deal with it tomorrow.

What would your ideal day consist of?

Lying in bed, videos on quiet and junk food.

What has been your experience during the Covid 19 situations. Can you tell us how this has affected you personally, how it has affected you professionally and maybe a story from this time or a message for people out there?

I started my second job as first lockdown hit. I've worked through the pandemic with barely any days off so it hasn't really affected me as much.

If you could say one thing to your fans what would it be and why?

The quality will go up eventually.

How would you answer the question Who is Bizarre Therapy and what are the differences between you as a music artist and you away from music ?

Bizarre Therapy is a solo experimental/electro project. I'm not active on my personal social media accounts, only on the artist ones. That's the main difference. I like to keep my personal life... well, personal.

What was the first record or song you purchased and why?

It's was an MTV's compilation CD that I bought in 2011 I think.

What would say to someone thinking about becoming a musician and getting into the music industry?

You need a strong stomach and crazy determination and devotion.

If you could collaborate with any other band/singer or musician who would you choose and why?

Alex Terrible because his vocals are insane.

If you could have written one song from history which would it have been and why?

Anything from Karl Orff. That man was a genius.

What things make you uncomfortable?

People getting in my personal space. I can't stand that. I'm grateful for social distancing.

If you wrote a book about yourself what would it have in it?

It's have all the stupid things I've done in my life.

What has the rest of the year got in store for you?

Loads and loads of work. And a compilation release. I'm really looking forward to that.
