NEW YEARS DAY

unnamed (3).jpg

When did you decide that a career in music was for you?

Since as long as I can remember.

Who are your musical inspirations and why?

Too many to name but I usually gravitate towards vocalists that don’t have perfect voices like Gerard way and Billy Corgan.

Can you tell me 3 things about yourself that people might not already know?

I’m a homebody, I’m pretty shy and I love animals.

What song of yours best describes you and why?

Probably the death of the party.

What has been the best gig you have done to date and why?

When we played at Wrestlemania in Florida. It just felt unreal!

If you could perform a gig at any venue where would it be and why?

My first concert was at the Honda center in Anaheim so a big goal for me would be to play there someday!

What has been your best achievement to date and what would you like to achieve in the future?

I feel like I’ve been achieving my bucket list in drops over the years so I just want to continue that.

Tell me a story from backstage or after a gig?

Oh wow! Too many to recall! Stealing real human skeletons from a secret passageway in a Masonic Temple is definitely one for the books.

What do you like best about being a musician and why?

I like that I get to travel and meet tons of people.

If you were not in the job you are now what would you be doing?

Probably something to do with haunted houses.

What has been the best gig you have been to as a fan and can you tell us about it?

Seeing Rammstein in 2012 at the Honda center was moving. Their production brought tears to my eyes.

What would your ideal festival line up be and why?

I feel like every festival we play is a dream one up in some way.

Can you tell us as much as you can about your new album from what we can expect from Half Back Heart, the process of making it and anything else you want to tell us?

I feel like this is a more grown up and evolved version of New Years Day and I’m very excited for everyone to hear it.

What would you say is the best piece of advice you have ever been given?

To never give up, never surrender.

What things make you happy and what things annoy you?

Seeing friends and family happy makes ME happy and what annoys me? Rude and intrusive people.

What things do you like to do when you are away from music?

I enjoy playing video games by myself.

Do you think social media and the internet are a good thing in the music industry?

Of course! The promotion is priceless.

How important do you think you look and image when it comes to being in the music industry?

It is and it isn’t. Even not having an image is still an image.

Can you tell us about any tattoos you have and the significance of them to you?

I have hundreds now! They all mean something to me in some way.

If you run the country for a day what would you change about it and why?

I’ll say what I said when I ran for 6th grade President. Chocolate milk instead of water in all the school water fountains!

What would your ideal day consist of?

Hanging in bed with my dog, playing video games and having good deliveries.

If you could say one thing to your fans what would it be and why?

I love you, thank you for being here with me.

What was the first record or song you purchased and why?

It was Alannis Moreisette and I liked the cover.

What would say to someone thinking about becoming a musician and getting into the music industry?

Practice practice practice!!!!

If you could collaborate with any other band/singer or musician who would you choose and why?

There’s tons!! Maria Brink is on my bucket list.

If you could have written one song from history which would it have been and why?

Don’t Speak by No Doubt.

What things make you uncomfortable?

What makes me uncomfortable are Liars.

What has the rest of the year got in store for you?

We’ll be touring with Lacuna Coil in May and have some awesome festivals coming up!
