Piqued Jacks Interview

When did you decide that a career in music was for you?

When music decided not to be an a**hole like all the other things in life.

Who are your musical inspirations and why?

Whoever makes music with their soul, cares about their fans and stays humble.

Can you tell me 3 things about yourself that people might not already know?

We are Italian, our live show is a must see and we once played a show in a gondola.

What song of yours best describes you and why?

Our latest single “Everything South” definitely sums up how we feel today. Angry and sarcastic.

What has been the best gig you have done to date and why?

The last one we did was one of the best. People in Skopje (MK) know how to have fun at a concert.

If you could perform a gig at any venue where would it be and why?

Red Rocks Festival. Because come on, look it up, it’s amazing.

What has been your best achievement to date and what would you like to achieve in the future?

Not disbanding for 16 years straight. Future achievements? Red Rocks Festival.

Tell me a story from backstage or after a gig?

Once we came home early.

What do you like best about being a musician and why?

Being on the road and meeting amazing people along the way.

If you were not in the job you are now what would you be doing?

A stuntman, or a farmer.

What would your ideal festival line up be and why?

Piqued Jacks, The Ghibertins, Under The Bed, Millennium Bug. Because Italian underground is full of great bands who need to be seen.

What would you say is the best piece of advice you have ever been given?

Hard work pays off.

What things make you happy and what things annoy you?

Playing music! Not playing music.

What things do you like to do when you are away from music?

Mostly pizza.

Do you think social media and the internet are a good thing in the music industry?

Good because it’s useful to spread one’s music, bad because professionals rely on it too music instead of focusing on what a band has to offer in the real world.

How important do you think you look and image is when it comes to being in the music industry?

Very much important unfortunately, that’s why we buy a lot of shirts.

Can you tell us about any tattoos you have?

We did a band tattoo together, then two members left the band.

If you run the country for a day what would you change about it and why?

It would be a really bad idea to let a band run a country.

What has been your experience during the Covid 19 situations. Can you tell us how this has affected you personally, how it has affected you professionally and maybe a story from this time or a message for people out there?

It did affect many of our gigs scheduled around the world, so we decided to write an album which is called “Synchronizer”. Listen to “Every Day Special”, that’s our message.

If you could say one thing to your fans what would it be and why?

Thanks for sticking with us, really. We wouldn’t be anything without you.

How would you answer the question Who are Piqued Jacks and what are the differences between you as a music artist and you away from music ?

Piqued Jacks are a band with a unique sound an attitude. We are genuine people, so there’s no such difference.

What would say to someone thinking about becoming a musician and getting into the music industry?

Prepare to get hurt a million times.

If you could collaborate with any other band/singer or musician who would you choose and why?

The Weeknd would be a nice match. We love funky stuff.

If you could have written one song from history which would it have been and why?

“Happy Birthday”. For royalties reasons, of course.

What things make you uncomfortable?

Indifference to climate change.

If you wrote a book about yourself what would it have in it?

An endless list of failures.

What has the rest of the year got in store for you?

It has just started, we have so much in store. Keep an eye on our social media.
