Samuel Jack Interview
When did you decide that a career in music was for you?
I think most probably around the same time I dropped out of uni - I just wanted to write back then , write anything, and my love for music kinda just lead the way .
Can you tell me 3 things about yourself that people might not already know?
I used to work as a professional chef. when I was younger I was a promising footballer and very nearly went into an academy system. I once got four parking tickets in one day
What has been the best gig you have done to date and why?
That’s realllly hard . It’s a toss up betwee the first time I played Glastonbury and a show I did in LA at the ‘Hotel Cafe’ I’d wanted to play since I was a kid.
If you could perform a gig at any venue where would it be and why?
Maddison square gardens . Because why not ️
What has been your best achievement to date and what would you like to achieve in the future?
My biggest achievement to date is probably staying alive to continue telling the tales. My next goal is to reach bigger audiences around the world and continue touring just as soon as it’s safe to do so.
Tell me a story from backstage or after a gig?
There was a time where I left my ‘stage shoes’ in a locked van and didn’t realise I’m until showtime ... so I did the gig in slippers
What do you like best about being a musician and why?
The adventure. It’s never ending.
If you were not in the job you are now what would you be doing?

Prince. At the forum LA. Watching a legend at work, he was quite phenomenal

To persevere. Work hard and persevere - that’s the only thing that separates you from achieving or not achieving what you want

Travelling makes me Happy, my best mate Owen annoys me :)
What things do you like to do when you are away from music?
Walk, eat, drink beers in the sun with my pals
Do you think social media and the internet are a good thing in the music industry?
Definitely. Right now we’d be lost without it.
How important do you think you look and image is when it comes to being in the music industry?
It’s something I hate to think about, you’re image should be just who you are and let the music speak for itself .
What has been your experience during the Covid 19 situations. Can you tell us how this has affected you personally, how it has affected you professionally and maybe a story from this time or a message for people out there?
It’s a crazy time for us all. Without question it has a direct effect on my career as a touring musician, all of us have been effected in some way. Now is a time to maneuver, adapt and innovate ways around problems. Fortunately I’m at the start of my debut album campaign, Empty Pockets Crowded Heart is being released in 3 Volumes so I’m excited to have a constant stream of new releases schedule throughout the year. I’m also colloborating a lot remotely with both writing and recording. Trying to stay positive, we’ll get though this, the world will be a different place, in the mean time, we’ve just gotta look out for each other!
If you could say one thing to your fans what would it be and why?
Right now.: stay safe, keep smiling, enjoy new music.
How would you answer the question Who is Samuel Jack and what are the differences between you as a music artist and you away from music ?
To be honest very little, I try to be as open and honest on stage as I am in everyday life… as you’ll hopefully witness at a live show one day :)
